This small garden along the lakeside path is a part shade garden designed in 2006. The garden is planted on a big berm with drainage underneath, the purpose being to prevent flooding. We use a water pump to pump water out of the lake to water it. There are two or three different ground covers in this mixed bed including Vinca Minor and Ivy. In the spring the bed is primarily for Azaleas and Redbuds, but annuals provide color through the summer. A Rock wall backs the annuals. Shade bird's nest ferns give foliage contrast. More Azaleas are planned for this garden. The garden is an example of making an attractive area out of a practical need—flood control.
