Botanical Center Photo Galleries Hiltrud "Sam" Webber Dwarf Conifer Garden

Photo Galleries

When we were discussing the new website for Friends of the Garden, we wanted there to be a feature where some of our members could publish their photographs of the gardens and arboretum.

We hope this becomes a well-used and frequently visited area of the site. Come back often to see what new photo series have been posted to the site.

Dwarf Conifer Garden
What are dwarf conifers? They are really "witches brooms"... abnormalities found on large growing or other dwarf conifers. These congested or pendulous growths are then grafted onto a rootstock as a means of propagation. If proven worthy, they are named and registered with the American Conifer Society.  If there is one thing we really love about our dwarf conifers, it is that they always look perfect. These little trees really shine through all of the seasons, no matter what the weather. They add those bright foliage colors year round, or the form or texture your garden requires. - info obtained from  The Singing Tree Garden

Hiltrud "Sam" Webber

I was baptized, Hiltrud Maria Masuch, in Domnau, County Bartenstein, East Prussia, Germany. During WW II, my mother, brother and I fled from the Russian invasion. In 1959 I came to the US to increase the knowledge of my business English. Instead I studied entomology and eventually specialized in Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths). I kept a large butterfly garden. Hence my interest in flowers. I am married with children.
