Pink Dogwood Garden Club
The Pink Dogwood Garden Club beautifies the community and encourages the planting of pink dogwood trees.
The Pink Dogwood Garden Club adopted the White Garden in Close Memorial Park two years ago. Their members provide the maintenance and many of the plantings that go into making that garden a favorite.

The roots of gardening run deep for members of the Pink Dogwood Garden Club, which organized in1959 when Parkcrest Village was outside the city limits of Springfield. These days Parkcrestis well within the city limits, but the 20 club members still meet faithfully to learn about gardening, including vegetables, herbs, trees and and flowers as well as studying flower arranging and participating in garden shows.Their legacy can be seen each spring when the blooms on Pink Dogwoods seem to float on air in one of Springfield’s oldest neighborhoods. Members have also donated land to the Springfield/Greene County Library Center and the Good Samaritan Boys Ranch, which returned the favor this year with a contingent of young workers who helped at the Close Memorial Gardens. This year, members of the club have cared for the White Garden throughout one of the hottest summers on record as well as supporting Friends of the Garden financially.
